The World isn’t a regular cruise ship. It consists of 165 apartments mostly owned by residents. A few years back the apartment price was quoted as between $2m and $15m.
I keep wondering how many guests are usually on the ship, given I assume most people who’d spend millions on a flat on a cruise ship probably have residences elsewhere too. Keep imagining it as a near ghost ship (which is not true of course - it has a crew of 280) and a monument to excess.
Wouldn’t it be a shame if it sunk randomly, far far away from land and help.
The cannons that sunk the German warship Blücher during the invasion of Norway are still on one of the islands right behind the ship in that picture, just saying (Blücher kept going for a while and finally went down a bit further in)
I’ve been there! Absolutely beautiful area. It would be awful if someone accidentally restored those guns to a working condition, and some of local wildlife set them off while that abomination was spoiling the scenery in directly front of them
The island the fortress is on has goats that roam relatively free as a means to keeping the vegetation in check. I’m now picturing goats firing cannons.
